The NSW Government’s Cladding Product Safety Panel (CPSP) will benefit from the experience and expertise of two AAC members.

The newly established Panel comprises of building and construction specialists, including AAC members, Robert Marinelli and Allan Harriman.

The CPSP has expertise in fire safety engineering, product testing, building surveying and certification, and construction and building insurance. Panel members were appointed by the Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation on 29 July 2020.

The presence of two AAC members on the Panel will ensure the voice of registered certifiers will be heard as important decisions are made on cladding issues in NSW.

The CPSP provides expert advice to the NSW Cladding Taskforce and the Cladding Support Unit on the suitability of cladding replacement products and external wall assembly methods.

It will ensure guidance is available to local councils, consent authorities and building owners to make consistent, sustainable and cost-effective decisions in relation to rectification work.

For too long there has been a lack of understanding within government on the role and responsibilities of certifiers, but with strong representatives like Robert and Allan, the AAC is ensuring this is changing.
